At ThedaCare, we strive to provide exceptional care close to home. We know that every community has its own unique characteristics and needs, and we believe people deserve a high level of care of whether they live in a small town or a large city.

As part of that commitment, we’re excited to announce an expansion of surgery care at ThedaCare Medical Center-Berlin.

Through a new surgery clinic at ThedaCare Medical Center-Berlin, we’re reducing the need to travel long distances to receive pre- and post-operative care. In the past, people had to travel to the Fox Cities for these visits. The new clinic will open Nov. 1, 2023.

“We’re thrilled to provide this new service for the people of Berlin and surrounding communities,” says Tammy Bending, Vice President of Critical Hospital Operations at ThedaCare Medical Center-Berlin. “For the people we serve, this means less time away from work and other priorities.”

Specialty care offerings in Berlin include general surgery, orthopedic care, urology, cancer care, aand cardiovascular care.

Since 2021, ThedaCare Medical Center-Berlin has offered robotic surgery. This type of procedure offers many benefits to patients, including shorter hospital stays, fewer complications, and faster recovery times.

Translated to the individual level, robotic surgery can offer a quicker path to returning to what matters most. The new clinic will make receiving care even more convenient. Depending on individual circumstances, that may mean relieving the burden of taking time off of work or needing to find child care.

“Offering this clinic in Berlin will allow us to better serve the community,” says Dr. Jeffrey Burkett, a General Surgeon with Surgical Associates of Neenah. “We know offering surgery closer to home can provide people with many benefits. This new clinic will further enhance the convenient care we can offer.”

The surgery clinic is just the latest offering at ThedaCare Medical Center-Berlin.  In 2021, an expanded emergency department opened at the hospital. The larger space allows the hospital to serve more people. The facility also includes features designed to meet the needs of the communities served.

“We take care of a very large area here — over 60,000 lives,” Bending says. “It’s important to us to offer excellent care to the people we serve.”
